I really liked this book. It was really funny in the beginning, I loved the objectifying cats thing and her names for Foster; Lucifer, Satan, Beelzebub, I thought it was hilarious, but I also got a sense that it was a little sad because she seemed to mean them, but sometimes got a glimpse of pain and feelings for him, showing that she really didn't. Then it got more serious towards the end, with good reason. I loved the banter and the way they acted but then couldn't help but like each other. I liked the story of the dates and everything that happened to her and between her and Foster before the truth started to show. It was really cute but then at the same time serious, and at the end, it had an important message and story. I'm glad they could overcome everything, especially Layney. And glad Foster, I don't know, was the way he was, he loved her, still, and tried to do what he could and felt really guilty. I loooooved Foster's story from when they were 7 and how that is when you see clearly, not just in the awwww inspiring moments where you can kind of see, but you can really clearly see that he loves her and has for years and even since they broke up and even though she treats him the way she does and did. I thought it was soo sweet and wonderful, but you know heartbreaking that he was so upset at the end. He really did love her, for 10 years. Which by the I LOVE THAT LINE!!!!!!! the
"I Couldn't get you out of my system for 10 years"
quote and the description of his smile during his story :D, sad face, almost made me want to cry and smile at the same time, AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Which is basically how the book went, AWW moments, AWWW cry moments, laughs and a little bit of seriousness. Why she turned out the way she did and why she didn't trust him, it wasn't just the party but fear also, it makes sense. It's weird though how he just took everything she dished out, although I guess he didn't really, he teased her too, like he said, to help her justify her actions, probably because he felt guilty.

So Over You eBook Gwen Hayes Reviews

This book had me alternating between laughing out loud and crying. Logan and Foster are beautifully written characters, and Hayes has a wonderful talent for creating intelligent and satisfyingly snarky dialogue. The way the two bounce off of each other reminded me strongly of "His Girl Friday" but Hayes took it to an emotionally-charged next level that just made this book shine. As funny as this book was, there are some heartbreaking themes that are dealt with in "So Over You" and to the author's credit, the transition between the two tones is handled very smoothly and the subject matter dealt with in a believable way. Definitely a bright jewel in the YA indy publishing crown!
Review
Layney Logan was the girl reporter and that was all she ever wanted to be! However, this year, her senior year, is different. She not only has to share the Senior Editor position with her arch enemy Jimmy Foster, but she also has to fight to keep the school paper alive! The local paper is closing, the school is cutting Journalism, and this whole thing is a complete wild card! It seems that the only thing these two can agree on is the fact that they both will fight to keep this paper going! Then Foster gets an idea to save the paper, but it might drive Layney crazy in the process. She must go on twelve blind dates and write a piece about what a girl really wants in a guy, based on what she learns from her experiences. As she goes through this dating journey, she's starting to wonder it Foster knows her better than even she knows herself! She is even considering trusting him with a secret she's kept for four years!

So Over You is an interesting book. Seventeen year old Layney Logan is part of the school newspaper that is about to no longer exist. In order to save the school newspaper, Layney will go on 12 different dates with 12 different guys for 2 reasons. Reason #1 For a calendar to sell & Reason #2 Layney will write an article on what a girl wants in a guy. There are so many emotions Layney is experiencing. She's a very strong character, but there's a reason why she acts the way she does.

The book is super crazy (which is perfect). There's so much going on! When the book first began I thought this book was going to be light, but once you hit to the ending it becomes really intense. The book is super crazy. The secret that Layney reveals explains why she acts the way she does. It really broke my heart...I felt so bad for her.

The ending....Oh. My. Gosh. I was really upset! It ended so abrupt. As you're reading the ending your like "DUH...you've felt that way for ever!", but then you turn the next page and it just ended. No follow-up, no nothing! Overall, I think the book deserves anywhere between 3-3.5 stars.
