Hmm, not sure how I feel about this book. Same hot alpha man, adorable, smart, witty, somewhat vulnerable heroine. We get to revisit with the characters from the previous books. Hot, sexy love scenes, what's not to like, right? Great chemistry between the characters. I guess for me, it was a little too Jerry Springer-ish that Asher fell in love with his dead brother's baby mama. Now, I know that Chelcie and Coop weren't really a couple, they had a one night stand, but it still felt weird to me, she was still carrying Coop's baby and he just died! The 2nd thing that was weird is that their relationship didn't bother ANYONE! There wasn't one person at the CS that didn't say, "wait a minute, this is strange?" And then finally, the little dramatic twist at the end where Chelcie is in danger (won't give it away) but really? Out of left field and therefore it seemed contrived and unbelievable. I'm really sorry I can't give this a better review bc I like the series a lot, and I plan to read the next book which focuses on Maddox, but this one didn't quite do it for me. I have read other books where the brothers are involved with the same woman, so I know this is a common theme in romance novels (I thought Kristen Ashley did a nice job with this theme in her latest book, The Promise) but it just didn't work for me here. It's not the writing, which was great, but just the theme/plot just didn't seem plausible to me. Sorry I can't give it a higher rating.

Cooper Corps Security Book 5 edition by Harper Sloan Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

After what happened in “Beck”, I was not sure what to expect from this story. Having to say goodbye to Zeke Cooper was not fair because we were just starting to really get to know him. This was supposed to be his story and in a way it was. While this book is about Asher & Chelcie, Cooper is also in their hearts.

It took me a little time to find my love for Asher. We didn’t meet or learn anything about him until “Beck”. So he’s the new guy. To be honest, I was also missing Cooper and wanted him back.

Asher & Cooper were more than brothers, they were best friends, and in a lot of ways Asher was a father figure to Cooper. They had to rely on each other to deal with the horrible childhood they were exposed to thanks to their unfit mother. The flashbacks in this story help us to understand why their bond was so strong, why Cooper felt the way he felt about relationships & women, and just how much of an amazing person Asher really is.

We also first meet Chelcie in “Beck”, she is employed by Dee and they are friends. She did not handle Dee’s attack well and found comfort in someone who was able to give her just what she needed at the time. I guess this would be the perfect time to say that everything happens for a reason. There is now a part of Zeke Cooper that will live on. And between that knowledge and the love of his Sunshine, Asher is able to cope with his grief and live again.

I love Chelcie & Asher together. Their story could not be complete without some drama and let me tell you, some of it you will not see coming. And the epilogue was just perfect.
This is one of those books that you finish and go "I can't even! I just can't!" and continue on with the unfinished exclamations going around your head until you pass out from emotional exhaustion.
I was introduced to the Corps Security series when I bought the Alphas on Top box set. I read Cage first and and fell in love with him & all the other Marines so I immediately ordered Axel. He was my fav until I read Beck, and then he was my fav. Then I read Uncaged and Cage was my fav again. So now, after Cooper, I think Asher is my favorite. I can't even...
I LOVE how Harper Sloan is so open minded when it comes to families! There are no mentions of blood lines and half/step/etc. It's all family because they chose to be family. I just love it and it is SO real life.
Cooper picks up about 4 months after Beck ends. We all know Chelsie is pregnant but now she has to break the news to Asher. He is messed up from the loss of his brother and not very grounded in reality so the secrets get out of hand before they come to a head.
Chelsie was and AMAZING heroine. One of my favorite of all time! She was strong and soft, she fought hard and tirelessly, she was honest with herself and spoke her mind. She knew what she wanted and went after it with the tenacity of a pit bull. She thought for herself, allowed herself to cry when she needed to, and then she picked herself up and went on. She was secure in herself and Asher, and she made no apologies for who she was, what she did, and what she wanted. It was so easy to love her and be invested in everything that was important to her.
I love, love, love how Harper Sloan planned out this series. I almost expected Cooper to be an afterthought, an addition that doesn't really add much to the overall story and leaves you a little disappointed~ but it doesn't! Not in any way! It is a complete story on it's own and adds elements to the overall series that are vital! There are several flashbacks that explain so much about Zeke Cooper, why he did what he did, who he was, and who Asher was. It makes sense now!
Harper didn't cut corners, thought out all angles, and made 2 brand new characters as vital as the originals. She also used the story to give us some more info into everyones absolute fav Marine, Maddox Locke. We are all dying to know his story and there are some important clues in Cooper. YES~ we even find out what Dee saw at Cohen's party! I was dying for that piece of info and it all kinda' falls together now. I can not wait to see how Harper tells his story!
Sway wasn't as prevalent in this story until he played a big part in the end so I hope HS adds more of the stylist in Locke. He was so important in Beck and I missed him in Cooper.
I laughed out loud more than once, I cried, and I felt so much while reading Cooper. This series gets better as it goes along and I can't wait to read more.
