Leopard Prey A Leopard Novel Christine Feehan Books

I remember enjoying this book a great deal and it’s a mystery romance, which is what I usually enjoy but most of the time, I wanted to shake both of them.

Remy is supposed to be smooth but he can’t even talk to his mate without saying the wrong thing and making her think that they weren’t meant to be together. A whole lot of misunderstanding going on here and it kind of took away from the mystery. It was kind of like the mystery was trying to push to the front because they kept getting interrupted but then something would happen to bring the couple back to the spotlight.

About the mystery, I thought the bone carver was well thought out, I mean I didn’t even really suspect who it was even though I got a little creep vibe from one of the characters. I feel that the side crimes though were maybe just filler to keep the book from slowing down and to throw everyone off track.

The cover is compelling and the writing is good, though not as great as Savage Nature but good enough to keep me interested. This is one romance mystery that I will not count as one of my favorites but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy reading it. Maybe it’s because I only knew Remy for one book?

Leopard Prey A Leopard Novel Christine Feehan Books Reviews

However, once I started it, I couldn't put it down. Now I have to find a new book to read while in the water. *mutter*

Anyways...I actually enjoyed this story. Perhaps I wouldn't mind having my own Remy? The kind of man who is strong, responsible, loving, sexy as hell, and isn't afraid to take control. Not sure whether I need to sigh before I wipe the drool off my chin or do them at the same time...lol

Anyways, I really do like this series- the author makes most of the people so dang likeable- they're not perfect people. I like that.

Would you need to read the other books in this series? Not really. This could definitely be a standalone book in my opinion. Yes, there are characters from previous stories, but ultimately you would not need to know their stories in order to enjoy this one.

I do suggest giving the book a try. I know I would have finished it earlier (started it on a Sunday evening and finished it by Tuesday afternoon), but work was getting in my way.
Christine Feehan's writing style is improving~ the only problem I have with this book is that there really was no real connection emotionally between the main characters (16 year age difference was pronounced). That takes the whole romance portion out of the story for me. They may have had a history, but there wasn't much build-up to the love scenes and then the heroine was especially naive and sickeningly eager to please! She begs him to "show her how" to give a BJ. Yeah...

This woman is supposedly world-weary and a famous rock star who grew up in the business and witnessed her famous father and his groupies having sex on a regular basis. Among other things...

Other than this, the story line continues and I am actually enjoying the leopard series now. It's not abusive (the fist book in the series made me furious), and the writing is starting to flow better (dialogue, over-use of names, sex scenes, etc.) than her previous books from this and her other series'. I'll be on the lookout for the upcoming book in this series, in particular!
Leopard’s Prey is the latest in Christine Feehan’s Leopard’s series. I think that Christine can write paranormal romance like no one else. I always enjoy her books every time I read them. I do have to say that when this story started, I was a little worried. It starts off a little cheesy, but it recovers well. I also think that she goes a little overboard technically in this story. I feel as if she is trying to prove that she has researched the subject matter thoroughly, and in doing so, gets too technical. As a paranormal romance reader I read for the story and the romance. I don’t want to be bogged down in details about rock climbing equipment and the procedures of police work. That being said, I really enjoyed this installment of the series. As I said, Christine can write romance. Her scenes are steamy without being raunchy and she knows how to define the fine line between overbearing man and loving hero. I also love the fact that even though Remy is the “white knight”, Bijou is also strong and capable in her own right. Another refreshing point to this story is the fact that the push and pull between characters felt right. So often when reading romance, there is all this tension and uncertainty between the romantic leads and then all of a sudden, the two people who were so unsure about each other in the previous chapter realize that they are the love of each other’s lives. In this story there was plenty of sex, intrigue, suspense and action. Leopard’s Prey is a really enjoyable read.
I loved the couple and their back stories. Feehan could have built a wonderful romance about two people with a prior interest adjusting to their own new lives and how it deepens their relationship.

Unfortunately she focused on the mystery. And instead of creating a good mystery she used "The Nexus of Evil" approach -- throw a lot of clues generated by intersecting bad stuff/bad guys to confuse and confound the reader. At first you may be dazzled but eventually you feel cheated. All this stuff focused at one time in a one lil' ol' town in their one patch of lil' ol' swamp? You realize that you've been inside an old nursery rhyme

Bodies, blood, dead and crimes
How many lovers are going to St. Ives?

As they might say in the Bayou, "The bonne temps didn't get rouled, Cher, the reader did."
